5 Ways To Live Your Best Life in 2023

Live Your Best Life in 2023

Happy New Year TJ tribe! We made it to 2023. January is the time of year where hope and optimism is at an all time high, and many of us set intentions that will help us live our best lives. Some of us are overachievers and we set so many goals that we end up burnt out by Valentine’s Day. Don’t go crazy with the goal setting this year and be realistic. You can make 2023 your best year ever without going overboard. Here are five realistic ways to live your best life in 2023.

Sets Systems, Not Just Goals

Some of our New Year’s resolutions can leave us feeling discouraged. Instead of just setting a seemingly unrealistic goal for the year, focus on implementing a system to help you achieve that goal. For instance, If you want to focus on improving your physical and mental health, set systems that will help you achieve the desired results. Systems are changes we make and adopt that actually serve us to meet our goals. Implementing systems make our goals more achievable, and as a result we are less likely to get discouraged.

Unrealistic Resolution:  This year I will become a gym rat.

System to make it realistic: I will block out time in my schedule a few times a week to exercise for 45 minutes.

Strive For Work-Life Balance

As much as financial stability is of utmost importance, especially in these times of economic uncertainty, there is more to life than work. Whether you have your own business or work a 9 to 5 with a side hustle, it is important to do things that are unrelated to work but enrich your life. Make time for your relationships.

Take time to focus on your relationships with family and friends and make sure to stay in touch with those you love. Take time to learn a new skill or hobby. Whether it’s learning a new language, playing an instrument, or gardening, take time to explore something new. You can schedule these things into your calendar to give them just as much importance as your meetings at work. To live your best life means giving attention to all areas of life.

Unfollow the Jones’s

Unfollow. Unsubscribe. Block. Delete.

Comparison is the thief of joy and when we are too preoccupied with what others are doing, we miss out on the blessings in our own life. In the era of social media, we are bombarded on a daily basis with what others are doing and have achieved. 2023 is the year to redirect that energy into gratitude by paying closer attention to our own lives. Unfollow those people from high school if their posts bring up feelings of envy (or mute them if you don’t want to be too harsh). Don’t follow the Jones’s; focus on gratitude instead.

Stop Tek Draw Out

To “ tek draw out” means that you take the bait when someone is provoking you or pressuring you into doing something you don’t want to do. It is usually done to elicit an emotional response and make you look like a fool in the situation. One of the easiest ways to live your best life this year is to stop being so reactive to petty situations and just focus on you.

Slow Down

Living your best life often has nothing to do with tangible things. The best things we can do for ourselves involve creating more peace and ease in our lives. It mainly comes down to the decisions that we make on a daily basis.  Where in your life are you overextending? How can you put yourself first more often? Slow down, take your full lunch break, take a walk on the beach, visit a nearby river, and prioritize reciprocity in your relationships.
